How To Buy Loose Diamonds?

Learn More About Our Certified Diamonds

As you explore our selection of white gold engagement rings, wholesale loose diamonds or other fine pieces of jewelry, we want you to understand more about the diamonds you are considering buying. The beauty of these precious gemstones is found not in their similarity, but in the distinctions that make each and every one unique. The inherent value and ultimate pricing, however, does depend on the Four C’s. When you understand these, you will clearly see why some solitaire engagement rings simply cost more than others that may appear identical to the naked eye.

About The Four C’s
Diamonds are broken down into four categories that determine their value. These four categories are known as the four C's. They are Color, Clarity, Cut, and Carat weight. Each C can drastically change the value and appearance of a diamond. Before shopping for a diamond it is important to understand how each C affects these two things. The categories below will help give you a better understanding of the four C's so you can select the perfect diamond for your special occasion.

Clarity
This refers to the imperfections found in nearly every diamond. The quality of a diamond is measured in part by its clarity with flawless or nearly flawless stones fetching a much higher price. Our wholesale loose diamonds follow the standard grading scale for certified diamonds. We only carry those that range from flawless to I1 in clarity.

Color
This designation refers to the visual color of the stone and ranges from colorless to light yellow. Our selection of certified diamonds ranges from colorless, or D, to faint yellow, or M, in grading.

Carat
This is nothing more than the size of the finished stone, but it can play a role in the pricing of wholesale loose diamonds. At Weiser Jewelry, we carry stones ranging from about a half carat in size up to 4 carats.

Cut/Shape
Cut refers to two criteria. The overall shape of a diamond/gemstone and the mathematical proportions of the multifaceted stone. Diamonds/gemstones are often cut into numerous exotic shapes as set forth below:

Diamond shapes: round, princess, radiant, emerald, oval, pear, asscher, flanders, heart, cushion, marquise, old miner, trillion diamonds

Cut pertains to the diamond's light performance, dimensions, and finish. Cut is often confused with shape. Shape refers to the overall outline of the diamond when viewed from the top. Round is by far the most popular diamond shape followed by squared shapes such as princess, emerald, and Asscher. Even if a diamond has perfect color and clarity, a poor cut can make a diamond look dull. The cut of a diamond has the most effect on the sparkle, or brilliance. Most gemologists consider cut to be the most important of the four C's. We hand pick every diamond to insure that it has the highest possible brilliance.

shallow cut diamonds, ideal cut diamonds, deep cut diamonds

Shallow cut: When a certified diamonds are shallow, the light is lost out the sides and the diamonds lose their captivating brilliance;

Deep cut: When a diamond is cut deep, the light escapes out the bottom and the diamond appears dark;

Ideal cut: Allows the light to travel freely through the Diamond and exit in a rainbow of sparkles.
